On November 2, the AIM 2019 Extreme Image Super-Resolution Challenge initiated by the International Conference on Computer Vision (ICCV), the premier world-class academic conference, concluded. With 16 times super-resolution algorithm, BOE claimed the title against 51 competitive teams including those from Toyota and Tsinghua University.

The 16 times super-resolution algorithm developed by BOE is an image manipulation algorithm based on deep learning. It will improve low-resolution images by 16 times, turning them into high resolution. The images also feature new details originated from added noises, balancing the micro and macro effects and resulting in more vivid results. For example, if super-resolution is deployed in movies and dramas adapted from the Four Great Classical Novels of China, the images will be clearer and more vivid, and audience will dig up the details that went unnoticed before and learn more about these fantastic works. BOE has established cooperation with TV networks and renowned video platforms. Image super-resolution enjoys bright prospects of wide application in medical imaging systems and security.

The gesture recognition technology developed by BOE made it stand out in the 20BN-jester Gesture Recognition Challenge, which has the largest dataset for dynamic gesture detection. Real-time ranking of this event also attracted participants like MIT, Stanford University, Huawei and Ford. BOE ranked first in recognition accuracy. BOE’s technology define and identify not only static gestures but also dynamic ones. In the meantime, it can simulate the function of mouse, such as flip, move and click. The high recognition accuracy and smooth operation greatly facilitates the interaction between users and machines and guarantees richer interactive experience in settings such as teaching, car-mounted control, and video games.

In the latest Global AI Development Report released by Wuzhen Institute, BOE wan ranked No.6 among the top 10 Chinese companies filing AI patents.
